How to Avoid Spring and Summer Travel Risks

Traveling This Spring: How to Stay Healthy

Over the next few months, travelers will flock to popular spots like the Bahamas, Rocky Point, and Cancun for the warm weather and resort-like atmosphere. Although there are many exciting places to visit and foods to eat when experiencing a new country, there are also many health risks that could easily be avoided.

Vaccinated

vaccinationNow, this one is usually up to you. We recommend visiting the CDC guidelines for travel. Some international travel may have higher health risks that you should be aware of. We recommend speaking to your health care professional about your concerns at least 4-6 weeks before your trip and visiting the CDC website.

Reduce Exposure to Germs

It would be terrible to ruin your vacation by getting sick or having to fly back while not feeling well. Reduce your exposure to germs by washing your hands or using hand sanitizer. This may seem like an obvious one, but while 92 percent of Americans say they believe it’s important to wash their hands, only 66 percent actually do.

Immunity and alkaline have been a hot topic in the past. It’s said that an alkaline body can easily protect itself against germs and infections. Go alkaline this vacation with pHion.

If you’re gone for a long period of time, also think about getting travelers insurance.

Eat and Drink Safely

In many of the countries tourists visit, it’s important not to drink the local water and to forget the ice cubes. Check out the CDC’s free app, “Can I eat this?”

We also suggest you avoid the buffet. Internationally, countries are not that strict about food safety. You could end up eating food that has been out all day and tastes disgusting or worse, food that could make you sick. Plus, overeating on a vacation may seem like a dream come true, but often it just makes you tired and bloated.

The Diet

protein-dietAlthough this may not be a risk, it’s always difficult staying on track with your diet when travelling. Don’t let months of hard work be destroyed from one vacation. You’re in a new place with unique, wonderful foods. But we are too familiar with the “one cheat day” that turns into an entire week. We understand you’re on vacation and not every meal can be Alkaline-friendly, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on your diet completely. Don’t let all that progress be ruined by all-inclusive deserts and drinks. If you have a vacation scheduled, it’s possible to keep up your alkaline lifestyle. Try drinking plenty of water with our pHion Booster Drops, waking up early and going for a jog or to the hotel gym, limiting your alcohol, and taking your favorite alkaline snacks with you.

As with all health-related travel, we always encourage people to consult their physician or travel clinic before traveling abroad.
