Fall Health Tips

It’s that time of year again. Get ready for the Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and sweaters. The cool weather and warm drinks are just the beginning of why we love the fall season. It’s also a time when kids go back to school, the leaves begin to change, and there are a number of holidays and family gatherings like Thanksgiving and Halloween.

Although the fall season brings a lot of benefits, there are a few unhealthy habits we tend to follow during the season. We at pHion Balance want to make sure we are being the healthiest version possible. It’s easy to begin yo-yo dieting, overloading on sugars, or just binge watching way too much television. That’s why we’ve created a list of a few unhealthy habits and how you can take the extra step to make them healthy!

Lattes, Lattes, Lattes

fall health - latteThe cold season makes us all want to cozy up in our sweaters with a hot latte. Although a little coffee is said to help for quick energy and potential weight loss, it can also be a source of extra sugar and calories. If you are wanting a cozy and delicious drink, try pHion’s Alkaline Tea that has nine Alkaline herbal ingredients for acid and Alkaline balancing. It’s a good source of antioxidants and helps soothes the digestive system.

All That Candy

It is reported that almost 90 million pounds of chocolate are sold during the week of Halloween alone. You can still eat the candy, but try having it in moderation. Instead of all those sugary treats, try making Alkaline smoothies with some fruit and pHion’s Green Superfood. It can help satisfy your cravings and give you an extra boost! If that’s not enough, try some berries, dark chocolate, snack bars, and sugarless gum to help fight those cravings.

Binge Watching Way Too Much TV

fall health - binge watchingIt can be easy to stay in on the weekends and binge watch your favorite episodes on Netflix. It’s something we’ve all done and probably something we will do again whether it be Stranger Things or the next season of Game of Thrones in 2019. We are not telling you to stop binge watching episodes, but there are healthier ways to have TV marathons. Vulture recommends staying active while binge watching, pressing pause regularly, and even eating frozen grapes while you watch your favorite shows so you don’t overeat.

Stress of School

It can be hard to get back into the groove again whether you are in high school or a senior in college. School is definitely tough. It can include a lot of late nights doing homework and early mornings prepping for school. To de-stress, there are a number of things you can do. Try taking brief walks, writing in a journal, picking up yoga, or just stepping away from the screen. Here are a few ways the Huffington Post says can help you de-stress.

No matter the season, remember to put your health first. It can be challenging at times, but later down the road, you’ll see all that hard work paying off!
